Thank you Denver Fire
Oorspronkelijk berichtChief Tade, members of the Denver Fire department
When we contacted the Denver Fire Department about a year ago, they agreed to our request, and we started working on getting this group together to come overhere. We were very eager to come back to Colorado, after the succesfull trip to Colorado Springs two years ago. When we arrived on tuesday morning, we were assigned to ride along with station 1, 6, 8, 11, 12, 15 and 23 and we immediately liked it in 'our part' of the city. But we were no ordinary visitors. By staying in the fire stations, we could start our exchange of ideas and information. And men, the Denver firefighters could ask questions. Where was Belgium, how great was our fire station, why did we come here, what kind of equipment did we have?. And yes, can you tell us more about those Belgian waffles. Well, they didn't stop asking questions, and we talked for the last six days exchanging information that we could look up on the internet.. They gave us the chance to look behind the scene of a well-organized, well-equipped and very motivated fire department. The guys in the fire stations were proud to show us everything they do overhere. They showed us that brotherhood in the fire service is a reality when we come togheter.. So we, as new found friends were accepted in the station, not as a bunch of strange talking foreigners from abroad, but we were there to help. And guys that come over to help need to be fed very well. Your hospitality will be in our hearts for the rest of our lives. To all the members of the Denver Fire Department, thank you very much for having us over here and for the friends that we got in the past week, I hope to meet you one day on European continent.
On behalf of the Belgian Fireobservers organization, thank you
